Parliament has decided almost unanimously to comply with a government recommendation that the Dutch contingent in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) be withdrawn from Lebanon next October 19. Parliament agreed with the Foreign and Defense ministers who stated in a recent letter that since the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in June, 1982, the Dutch battalion assigned to UNIFIL has been unable to carry out its mission.
