To forestall a renewal of terrorism in jerusalem, a 24-hour curfew was proclaimed today for the triangle enclosed by Suleiman Road, the Street of the Prophets and St. Paul Road. The curfew started at nine o’clock this morning.
One British soldier was shot dead and another wounded last night while a patrol was searching traffic in Gaza. The southern city was placed under curfew for 24 hours. A Jewish cart driver named Chaim Shamir, 42, was shot and critically wounded this afternoon in Haifa. Five Arabs were killed in an explosion that wrecked an Arab house in Mejdal which was used for the illegal manufacture of bombs.
