The struggle to keep the 70-year-old newspaper Davar alive seems to have been successful.
An agreement was signed Tuesday by representatives of the Histadrut; the management of Daver; and representatives from the journalists’ committee, who have been fighting to keep the paper afloat.
Under the agreement, the Histadrut will hand over all its holdings in the paper to the journalists and investors — who have yet to be found — by the end of the year.
The Histadrut will pay more than $300,000 a year for the paper.
Veteran journalist Ron Ben Yishai was named editor in chief of the paper.
