THE PARTITION OF PALESTINE WOULD MAKE THE UNITED STATES-GREAT BRITAIN CONVENTION OF 1924 ON THE PALESTINE MANDATE NOTHING MORE THAN A “SCRAP OF PAPER,” THE SENATE WAS TOLD FRIDAY BY SENATOR COPELAND OF NEW YORK. THE SENATOR RAISED THE QUESTION ON THE SENATE FLOOR FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A BRIEF DISCUSSION.

ARTICLE 7 OF THE CONVENTION READS: “NOTHING CONTAINED IN THE PRESENT CONVENTION SHALL BE AFFECTED BY ANY MODIFICATION WHICH MAY BE MADE IN THE TERMS OF THE MANDATE, AS RECITED ABOVE, UNLESS SUCH MODIFICATION SHALL HAVE BEEN ASSENTED TO BY THE UNITED STATES.”
