Lord Passfield has warned the cabinet that if the White Paper on Palestine is withdrawn he will be compelled to resign, the Jewish Post learns today from reliable sources. The Post suggests that the cabinet is already considering a substitute for Lord Passfield, the name of Lord Buxton, the minister of agriculture, being mentioned. Lord Passfield’s status, however, will not be settled until the Palestine debate is concluded when the government will do its utmost not to withdraw the White Paper, merely modifying it and explaining several sore points.
