The following Passover message was released by the White House.
“On behalf of the President and the Vice President, we wish you and your loved ones a joyous Passover, and pray that we will see freedom for Soviet Jews, as well as for all who suffer from oppression. And finally, I would hope that the holiday season will mark a new start towards peace for the United States, Israel and Egypt and all the world.”
The message was not signed by either President Reagan or Vice President George Bush, but by Elizabeth Dole, assistant to the President for public liaison.
