The Veritans Club, leading civic group of this city, has presented Harry B. Haines, one of the outstanding Jewish citizens and publisher of the local “Evening News” with an engraved placque testifying to the community’s esteem.
Last year, a representative symposium fostered by the same group selected Mr. Haines as “Paterson’s outstanding citizen.” The rules of the Veritans, however, forbid the same honor being accorded the same individual for a second year, so he was presented with the placque.
Mr. Haines presented colors to the Reuben Kaufman Post, Jewish War Veterans in memory of his mother, the late Sarah B. Haines.
