A distinguished French official has paid a visit here in connection with participation by the Paris government in the Levant Fair.
He is M. Mosnier, director of the committee for foreign exhibitions in the French Ministry of Conunerce. During his four days spent here, M. Mosnier met the Levant Fair authorities and discussed arrangements for a French pavilion.
He was the guest of Vicomte d’Aumale, French consul-general in the Holy city, and of Andre Bertrand, French consul in Jaffa.
Some seventy firms were represented by their local agents at a reception held in his honor. He referred in an address to the “amazing” economic progress made in Palestine and to the new openings offered for French commerce. He said he hopes that participation by French industries would do much to strengthen the trade relations between the two countries.
It is expected that a French commercial delegation will visit Palestine during the fair. The importance that is attached in concentrating on the exhibition at Tel Aviv is shown by the postponement of French participation in three other international fairs.
