The Peace Now monument, erected outside Shilo on the West Bank last Friday in protest over the government’s settlement policies, was put up by mistake on land belonging to an Arab from a neighboring village. “We didn’t know the land belonged to an Arab,” the movement’s spokesman, Tsali Reshef, said after a Gush Emunim member brought the fact to light. He added that the Peace Now movement was certain the land was owned by the government since the Shilo settlement had been established nearby.
The owner of the land, meanwhile, is considering taking the Movement to court because it failed to obtain his consent prior to erecting the monument.
