Peace returned to Jerusalem late today after the 30-hour truce had been broken and the modern Jewish quarter of the city, where 100,000 Jews reside, was shelled by Arab Legion artillery from the Old City. The truce was assumed after the issuance of a new deadline by the consular truce commission. (See earlier story on page 1.)
