Demonstrations on behalf of Soviet Jewry, largely peaceful, took place here today. Members of the University Committee for Soviet Jewry picketed and handed out leaflets in front of the Golders Green Theater where the Red Army Chorus opened its London concert series. Police escorted six persons from the theater but a spokesman for the Universities Committee said they had no connection with the peaceful demonstrators outside. Two members of a Herut youth group began a hunger strike outside of the Soviet tourist office today to protest the treatment of Soviet Jews.
