Three hundred and fifty delegates attended the seventeenth annual convention of the Pennsylvania Federation of Y. M. and Y. W. H. A.’s which opened here. Harry Michlosky of Wilkes Barre, Pa., President of the Federation, presided at the sessions.
The aggregate membership in the Y. M. and Y. W. H. A.’s in Pennsylvania is thirty thousand, I. Abelhen, field secretary of the Jewish Welfare Board, reported. Buildings totalling in value $3,800,000 are owned by the affiliated organizations. Dr. Mordecai Soltes, Director of the Extension Department of the Jewish Welfare Board, delivered an address on “What Makes a Center Jewish.”
Harry Michlosky was re-elected President for the third consecutive year. Rabbi Barnett R. Brickner of Cleveland, Ohio, was the principal speaker at the banquet concluding the sessions.
