Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres ventured into unchartered peacemaking territory this week: American baseball.
When an overzealous reporter confused Peres for a member of the baseball strike negotiating team and asked him about the status of the bargaining sessions, the Israeli leader joked with reporters who had surrounded him, “We will get an interim agreement. It will be a handshake”.
During his visit here, Peres stayed at the Mayflower Hotel, where the baseball talks were held.
