Dr. Solomon Chichilnisky was designated today a full Professor of Neurology by the faculty council of Buenos Aires University and confirmed by President Peron.
This is the first time in the history of Argentina that a Jewish scientist has reached the position of full professor at Buenos Aires University. In a statement to the press, Dr. Chichilnisky pointed out that the confirmation by President Peron testifies to the President’s policy of non-discrimination on racial or religious grounds.
A son of a rabbi who immigrated to Argentina from Russia, Dr. Chichilnisky graduated in 1931 from Rosario University. In 1946 he became general director of a hospital in Argentina. His most important work is “Tumors of the Frontal Lobe,” which was published in 1937.
