In an impressive ceremony, Dr. Pablo Manguel, Argentine Minister to Israel, last night presented President Person with a rare copy of a silver-bound 16th century bible sent to him by the President of Israel, Dr. Chaim Weizmann. Members of the cabinet were among those present at the ceremony.
Dr. Manguel explained that the Jewish State has no decorations, therefore Dr. Weizmann selected the bible to honor the Argentine President, Yaakov Tzur, Israel’s Minister to Buenos Aires, addressing Peron at the ceremony said: “We give you this bible, Mr. President, as the best taken Israel possesses, a taken of our will toward human progress.” Replying, Peron said that he was deeply grateful to President Weizmann and was certain that Israel will overcome the difficulties which the country is now facing.
