Phil W. Lown of West Newton, Mass., was elected president of the American Association for Jewish Education at its annual meeting at the Commodor Hotel here. He succeeds Harry Starr of New York who served as president of the AAJE for three years.
The newly-elected president, who recently was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws from the University of Maine, is also chairman of the Friends of Hillel. The American Association for Jewish Education was organized in 1939 and is a national service agency for coordination, promotion and research in American Jewish education.
