A gift of $500,000 for the erection of a Histadrut Trade School in Israel was announced here by the National Committee for Labor Israel. The gift was made by 79-year-old Leon Holtz and his wife, who have been leading a simple life here for many years and have never given any indication of wealth. Mr. Neltz, who was born and raised in Russia, has been in the real estate business since coming to Philadelphia 50 years ago. He still conducts the business from his “office”–an old-fashioned roll-top desk in the kitchen of his two-story row house in West Philadelphia.

The school will be known as the Leon and Florence Holtz Trade School and will be equipped to accommodate 200 students. The Jewish National Fund will provide about six acres of land in the Tel Aviv area. A forest dedicated to the Holtzs’ will also be planted. Representatives of interested Israel institutions, as well as relatives, attended an agreement-signing ceremony.
