A former Philadelphian, Mrs. Ruth Schimmel Hoffman, who majored in biology at the University of Pennsylvania, has collaborated on what may be one of the most important discoveries in the annals of medical science, made during laboratory experiments at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, it was announced here by the headquarters of the Zionist Organization of America.

Mrs. Hoffman discovered that an extract from the tissues of animals heals wounds which have failed to respond to ordinary treatment. Sensational results have been obtained in tests of experimental cases in both civil and military hospitals of Palestine. Among cases which were described as remarkable, was that of a soldier who, after one year of the only medical help available, was expected to have his leg amputated. After being treated by the new method he completely recovered the use of his leg in three weeks.
