The appointment of Philip Chasin, a key executive for many years in major communal, welfare and educational activities, as director of the Greater New York campaign for State of Israel Bonds, was announced yesterday by Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz, vice-president of the Israel Bond Organization. Mr. Chasin’s appointment, Dr. Schwartz said, fills a top post in the Development Corporation for Israel, the agency responsible for the sale of Israel bonds in the United States, Canada, South America, Western Europe and other parts of the free world.
Active in the field of large-scale fund-raising since 1939, Mr. Chasin has directed numerous campaigns in New York City and throughout the United States that have provided millions of dollars for the State of Israel and other causes. He originally organized the New York phase of the Israel bond drive in 1951, leaving in 1952 to become national executive director of the American Technion Society and later for the Joint Defense Appeal.
