Ten Californians — five from the San Francisco bay area — have been appointed members of a national committee to foster a Jewish welfare mobilization and the organization of 150 community leaders from all parts of the country to sponsor joint appeals for national and international Jewish relief and welfare agencies.
The ten named from this state are Jesse H. Steinhart, Lloyd Dinkelspiel, Dr. Hyman Kaplan and Daniel E. Koshland of San Francisco; Bernard Silverstein of Oakland, Judge H. A. Holzer, I. Irving Lipsitch, Rabbi Edgar F. Magnin, J. A. Rosenkranz and Judge Lester Roth of Los Angeles.
The purpose of the mobilization plan, according to William J. Shroder of Cincinnati, president of the National Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds, is to bring about the holding of joint, cooperative fund-raising campaigns in communities throughout the country by the numerous welfare, relief, educational and other Jewish organizations individually seeking relief funds.
