A picket demonstration under the auspices of the Emergency Youth Committee for the Jews in Iraq was staged before the Iraq Consulate General and the Iraq United Nations delegation offices here yesterday. Two hundred young man and women carried banners and chanted slogans protesting the persecution of Jews in Iraq.
During the demonstration, a delegation of the committee was received by a representative of the Consulate. The delegation said that American Jewry will not passively watch the “Nazi-like vandalism and persecution of Jews in Iraq.” It demanded that the Iraq Government cease its “Hitlerite” activities of illegal arrests, hangings and ghetto-ization of Jewish citizens and that the basic human rights guaranteed by the U.N. Charter be granted in Iraq.
