Joel Rosenblit, one of the first Jewish settlers in the Argentine and founder of the first Yiddish paper in this country, is dead at the age of 71. Rosenblit came to the Argentine in 1889 with the first group of Jewish immigrants who were sent by Baron de Hirsch as colonists and who were the founders of Mosesville, the first Jewish village of the Argentine.
In 1898 Rosenblit settled in Buenos Aires where he founded the first Yiddish paper in the country, Der Viderkol (The Echo). During the past few years Rosenblit had been leading a secluded life, unknown to the younger generation of Jewish immigrants and forgotten by the older generation.
