The Pioneer Women, women’s Labor Zionist organization in America, raised $1,400,000 for the activities of the Working Women’s Council in Israel, its sister organization, during the past year, it was reported today at a meeting of the Pioneer Women’s national board.
Of this sum, $900,000 was raised for the social welfare and educational activities of the Working Women’s Council and the remaining $500,000 was in the form of materials, clothing for immigrants and equipment for the large network of institutions maintained by the Council. It was also reported that over 3,000 new members joined the Pioneer Women last year. The organization has 425 chapters in this country and Canada.
