The Jewish Community of Vienna was informed today that a plan has been abandoned for erecting a mausoleum which would have contained the skeletons of dead killed by the Nazis at the former Mathausen concentration camp.
The plan for the building of the “ossarium” at Mathausen was coupled with other plans for disinterring the remains of Mathausen dead. The Jewish Community here had complained against the disinterment proposal which had been advanced in France. Today, the community was informed of the abandonment of the plan by two French members of the International Mathausen Committee, Rev. J. Riquet and Emile Valley. Both had been inmates at Mathausen.
