Friends of the late Zionist leader and founder of the Zionist Organization. Theodor Herzl, have launched a movement for the erection in Vienna of a monument to him.
According to tentative plans the monument is to be erected on the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of Dr. Herzl’s death. A large international committee is being planned and a plan for the monument has already been prepared. Simultaneously, the committee has undertaken negotiations with the Vienna city authorities for allocating a public site.
These details were given in a report in the “Neue Freie Presse,” but an inquiry of the correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency in Zionist circles brought no verification.
