The anti-Jewish propaganda in America was reviewed today from every angle by Sigmund Livingston, chairman of the Anti-Defamation League, addressing the fourteenth quinquennial convention of the B’nai B’rith here.
Mr. Livingston answered allegations about the so-called “Jewish international bankers” and suggested a number of practical recommendations for combatting anti-Semitism in the United States. He deplored the fact that certin public men are interested in personal publicity more than in the Jewish cause and criticized those who advise Jews to abstain from accepting government positions.
“JEWISH” AS EPITHET
“The easy way to discredit anything,” Mr. Livingston said in his report to the convention, “is to apply the epithet ‘Jewish.’ Thus Communism is Jewish, capitalism is Jewish, international bankers are Jewish, the peace treaties are Jewish, the New Deal is Jewish, inflation is Jewish, psychoanalysis is Jewish, the philosophy of relativity is Jewish, and in Germany—Christianity is Jewish!”
Mr. Livingston reviewed the anti-Jewish activities conducted by Nazi groups in America and the measures taken by the Anti-Defamation League to combat them. He pointed out that for the last three years the Nazis have been attempting to carve in America a foothold for anti-Semitism.
