The critical problems of the plight of Soviet Jews, and America’s response to these problems, will be the subject of a two-day national leadership assembly called by the National Conference on Soviet Jewry. The meeting will take place May 4-5 at the Statler Hilton Hotel in Washington. Stanley H. Lowell, NCSJ chairman, stressed the urgency and timeliness of this leadership assembly, which will bring together Jewish leaders from across the country.
Among the speakers scheduled to address various sessions at the assembly are Senators Henry M. Jackson (D. Wash.) and Edward M. Kennedy (D. Mass), Prof. John Armstrong of the University of Wisconsin, Prof. Leon Lipson of the Yale University Law Division, Abraham Brumberg. Senior program officer, USSR and European affairs, State Department, and Dr. William Korey, noted author and Sovietologist, Sen, James Buckley (C-R,NY) will be a keynote speaker.
Major American Jewish leaders will participate in the assembly and representatives from England, Mexico, Belgium, Canada, France and Israel will be attending.
