Both Poland and the Russian-controlled Allied Control Council in Rumania have replied “unfavorably” to a British request that they act to halt the exodus of Jews bound for Palestine, it was stated here today. This contradicts previous reports that Poland had agreed to close its borders.

A Foreign Office spokesman, who disclosed the Polish and Rumanian replies, said that Britain did not intend to make any further representations to any governments concerning Jewish emigration.

The High Commissioner for Palestine announced yesterday that the British Government has concluded an agreement with UNRRA for the repatriation of the several thousand Poles living in Palestine.
