Poland asked Britain to extradite a communist-era prosecutor accused of fabricating charges to hang a World War II hero and imprison more than a dozen other people. Helena Wolinska, who is Jewish, could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison if convicted. Wolinska, who is now a British citizen, left Poland after a 1968 anti-Semitic campaign organized by the Communist regime as part of an effort to consolidate its power.
