Reports are arriving here from several towns in Poland that the local authorities are closing down the elementary school known as Sabbath Schools, because they are specially intended for Jewish children. These schools are closed on Saturdays and Jewish festivals.
The closing of these schools will also throw Jewish teachers out of employment, because Jewish teachers are not accepted on the staffs of the general elementary schools.
The closing down of these Sabbath Schools will compel the Jewish children to attend the general elementary schools, where they will have to study on Saturdays.
A delegation of the Agudath Israel has intervened in this matter with the Ministry of Education, which has assured it that the matter will be regulated satisfactorily.
