Regulations by the Ministry of Justice prohibiting admissions to the legal profession for seven years were published in the official gazette today. Three thousand candidates for the bar are affected, of whom a large proportion are Jews. A recommendation for a moratorium on admissions to the bar was made on May 30 by the Central Lawyers’ Council.
A bill to reorganize the meat trade, interpreted as aimed at expulsion of Jews from the industry, passed its first reading today at an extraordinary session of the Sejm (chamber of deputies). Jewish Deputy Leib Minzberg was elected as one of the members of the committee for further consideration of the bill.
Deputy Emil Sommerstein interrogated the Government in the Sejm regarding the two-day anti-Jewish excesses at Tarnapol, East Galicia, last week in which several persons were injured and some property damaged.
