Israel-bound Jewish emigration from Poland will continue unhindered, Israel Barzilai, former Israeli Minister to Warsaw, declared here upon his arrival from Warsaw. Mr. Barzilai who, together with several members of his staff resigned several months ago, said that before he left Poland he received assurances from the “highest Polish authorities” that Jewish emigration would continue unmolested.
A one-year trade agreement between Israel and Poland was signed here yesterday. The agreement contains provisions for the transfer of capital of Jews emigrating from Poland to Israel. Under the terms of the agreement, Israel will buy in Poland $7,500,000 worth of coal, textiles, timber, farming equipment, tools, metal and chemical products. Sixty percent of the payments will be made by Israel in goods exported to Poland. These will include citrus fruits, pharmaceutical products, artificial teeth, razor blades and dental equipment.
