Adding insult to injury, the Polish authorities, who have withdrawn their subsidies from Jewish institutions and have ruined the existence of at least a million Jews by overtaxation, today suggested to the Jewish community of Warsaw that the Jews institute a special tax on matzoh for Passover in order to help the Jewish unemployed.

The Executive of the Jewish community rejected the suggestion, stating that no new special taxes could be imposed upon the Jewish population at this time.
