A police launch halted a fishing boat a few miles off the port of Haifa Late yesterday and apprehended ten “illegal immigrants” who had Iraquian passports and Syrian tansit visas, but no Palestine immigration-visas. All ten, as well as the crew, were arrested.
Baruch Falk, 23, of Uruguay, was fined thirty shillings today in a Tel Aviv court for illegal entry into Palestine. The magistrate recommended that he leave the country until he obtained a Uruguyan or Palestinian passport. Falk enlisted in the Free French forces while in Uruguay and was sent to Syria. He was recently discharged because of ill health and came to Palestine to seek employment. He was arrested by agents of the Criminal Investigation Department.
