The Swedish press, consistently combatting Nazi attempts to stimulate anti-Jewish feelings in the country, today issued a demand that the police authorities prohibit Swedish Nazis from parading in the streets with placards carrying anti-Semitic slogans.
The demand was provoked by the fact that such placards were carried this week by Swedish Nazis marching through the streets of Stockholm. The Stockholm newspapers today criticize the police for not confiscating these inciting posters. “While the Jews on the European continent are being inhumanly persecuted, Sweden’s Jews, who are citizens like the rest of us, should not be publicly insulted,” the Dagens Nyhether writes. Other Swedish newspapers emphasize that any attempt to stir up anti-Semitism in Sweden will meet stiff opposition.
