Police were stoned yesterday in Haifa and barricades were raised in Tel Aviv as Jewish indignation mounted over restrictions on sale of Palestine land announced by the British Government last Wednesday.
It was officially announced that curfew from one p.m. was imposed on Tel Aviv after barricades had been erected. Demonstrators were dispersed and several policemen and demonstrators were injured. A delegation of five Jewish women presented a protest to James S. MacPherson, Government Chief Secretary.
In Haifa, demonstrators stoned the Hadar Hacarmel police station, damaging a district officer’s automobile. A second demonstration near the Haifa law courts was also dispersed. Processions in Jerusalem yesterday morning were dispersed by the police.
