Polish Court Frees Yiddish Poet of Disloyalty Charge

The court of appeals annulled the sentence of the lower court imposed upon Beinush Silberstein, a young Yiddish poet, to two months imprisonment for the publication of a poem adjudged to be disloyal to the state. The poem was entitled “A Hymn to the Redeemed Earth.”

The court of appeals acted on the basis of the amnesty decree.
