Little encouragement for a Jewish back-to-the-land movement in the Republic of Poland is given by the Polish Minister of Agriculture, Niezabytowski.
In a communication addressed to the Polish Jewish daily, “Nasz Przegland”. Mr. Niezabytowski states that the government has no data available of the number of Jews in Poland engaged in agriculture. However, with regard to the problem of settling the Jews on the land, the Minister states that he must point to the fact that the scarcity of work already prevails among the village population and leads to the emigration of agriculturists. The government cannot, therefore, support an artificial transfer of town population to agriculture. Nevertheless, the Polish government places no obstacles in the way of a natural process of individuals proceeding to work on the land, he said.
