The exhibit of the work of the Yiddish schools in Poland was opened here yesterday in the Vilna Yiddish gymnasium in the presence of school directors, government representatives and other prominent guests. The opening address was delivered by Dr. Wirgili Kahn. Dr. Kowarski, Dr. Schabad and M. Mendelsohn also spoke.
When Mendelsohn, speaking on behalf of the “Zischo” or Central Organization of Yiddish schools, criticized sharply the policy of the government towards the minorities, the government representatives demonstratively walked out of the hall, the superintendent of schools declaring that it was impossible for him to listen to such talk.
