Government-inspired statements in the newspapers today said that the bill for banning kosher slaughtering would be passed at the present session of the Sejm ( Parliament ). The proposal is being considered by a special Sejm committee.
Meanwhile, the City Council of Graubenz in Polish Pomerania passed an ordinance prohibiting shechitah under an old law passed in the days when Pomerania was part of Germany. The Kalisz City Council announced a similar ordinance.
