The Polish Government will finance the establishment of a chair in the history of Polish Jewry at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, ##t was announced here today. At the same time it was made known that, with the Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture, the Jewish Central Committee assembled about ?00,000 scholarly volumes, chiefly of religious content, for shipment to the Hebrew University.
Approximately 28,000,000 zlotys have been collected by local Jewish communities in Poland for Hagarah, with the quota set at 70,000,000 zlotys. The funds were ?aised chiefly at mass meetings held in all parts of the country. The "Polish-Palestinian Friendship Society," in which several ministers, deputies, university professors and writers are members, has also been active in behalf of the Haganah campaign.
