The Central Jewish Committee in Poland has decided manimously not to participate in the World Jewish Cultural Congress which is to take place at the end of this year in the United States. The congress is being convoked by the Jewish Labor Committee in collaboration with the Jewish Writers Union and a number of other Jewish cultural groups in New York.
Pointing out that the Yikuf, a Jewish cultural organization in America, had decided a year ago to convoke such a congress for the end of this year, the Central Jewish Committee said the present move of the Jewish Labor Committee and its affiliated groups clashes with the Yikuf plan.
“Polish Jewry,” the statement says, “cannot participate in a congress which represents only part of Jewish cultural organizations and institutions. It wishes to assist in the convocation of a united congress in which all Jewish cultural groups will be represented.”
