The Federation of Polish Jews in America announced today that it has called meetings of its constituent groups throughout the country “to take the necessary measures to help the Jews in Poland and to cooperate with all the local Polish groups in the respective territories who are organizing for the defense of the Polish Republic.”
The Federation has pledged its support to a new central council, or Rada, formed to coordinate efforts in this country to help Poland. The organization is “ready to cooperate to the fullest extent with all other, non-Jewish groups in America in defense of Poland’s independence, in keeping with the pledge of support given by the Federation to the Polish Ambassador last Wednesday,” declared Executive Director Zelig Tygel in a statement.
The Federation also stated that it is in a position to transmit contributions to Polish Jews by cable.
