Polish Jews in the American-held part of Germany will not be forced to return to Poland against their will, Gen. Eisenhower cabled yesterday to the Agudas Israel of America.
The text of Gen. Eisenhower’s cable, made public, today, reads, “My instructions do not require compulsory repatriation of Polish Jews from Germany, Stop. Only those Poles who desire to be repatriated are being returned to Poland. The permanent disposition of those remaining in Germany is a matter which must be decided by higher authorities than myself.”
