Polish Jews will mark the 26th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising on April 19, but it will be a low-key celebration organized without any official assistance or encouragement, according to Folkstimme, the weekly publication of the Jewish Cultural and Social Association in Warsaw. In an apparent reference to the continuing anti-Jewish campaign by the Warsaw regime, the paper noted, “We will be celebrating the anniversary of the ghetto revolt in a changed situation and in new circumstances. The activities of our Association nowadays are much weaker than they used to be… We have to organize the commemorative program chiefly with our own resources and this goes both for speakers and other personnel.”
