A torah scroll rescued from the burning synagogue in Fenghazi when the Allied forces entered the city following the German retreat, was turned over to a Tel Aviv synagogue today by the Polish officer who had dashed into the Benghazi synagogue and saved it. The officer had carefully wrapped the torah in silk before presenting it to the local synagogue officials.
