Polish Parliament Passes Bill to End Shechita

The Sejm, lower house of Parliament, today adopted a bill providing for complete prohibition of shechita, Jewish ritual method of slaughtering animals for human consumption, which has been under partial proscription in Poland since 1937. The proposed law, which applies only to cattle, would go into effect on Dec. 31, 1942.
