Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski presented three Soviet liberators of Auschwitz with Poland’s highest medals of honor. The presentation took place Thursday at an International Forum event in Krakow that took place hours before ceremonies commemorating the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. Auschwitz survivor and Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel also spoke at the forum, telling young people that they must be the bearers of the memory and history of the Holocaust.
