The Tenth Conference of the Polish Zionist Federation opened here to-day with 334 delegates present, representing, according to the report, 18,644 voters from 318 towns, so that in spite of the abstention of the Revisionists and the Et Livnoth the Conference does not represent a smaller body of Zionists than did the Ninth Polish Zionist Conference held last year.
Deputy Isaac Gruenbaum, the President of the Polish Zionish Federation, complained in his opening address of the British policy in Palestine, in contradiction to the promises made to the Zionists in the Salfour Declaration. He expressed his regret at the absence of the Et Livnoth leaders, urging that there is no real difference of policy with them. The reason for their abstention was probably that they felt that the Polish Zionist Federation was now confined only to one group, the Al Hamishmar, he suggested, but this was wrong. The Polish Zionist Federation still represented the great body of Polish Zionists.
In the political life of the country, Deputy Gruenbaum went on, we Zionists stand by our programme not to have any Ugodas with a National Democratic Government, and the present regime is no different from the National Democratic regime, and has made no attempt to carry into effect the just Jewish demands.
With regard to the objects of the Conference, Deputy Gruenbaum said that the Central Committee was submitting a number of plans, including a plan of middle-class colonisation in Palestine, a plan for the establishment of a savings co-operative which will buy plantations for its members, a plan for issuing a lottery to enable the winners to visit Palestine, and several other plans.
