Pope John Paul II met with an interfaith group of Jews and Catholics, but made no mention of the recent Vatican document about the church’s role during the Holocaust. One of the Jewish members of the group, Geoffrey Wigoder, told the pope that many Jews felt the document did not go far enough in accepting church responsibility.
